It supports the lenses and drives the lenses back and forth in order to focus. VCM spring is an indispensable key component to lenses. There are two VCM springs in each cellphone camera. By applying magnetic and electric power, VCM springs move the lenses to achieve auto focusing. In order to obtain exact focus, accuracy of VCM spring is required. Materials for VCM springs are various grades of copper alloys depending on product requirements. The VCM springs could be extremely thin. Currently, VCM springs are manufactured through high precision etching process. Etching process has high precision, stress-free, burr-free, and no heat effect. Deformation is unlikely to occur. Additionally, the edges do not collapse easily by etching process. These benefits of etching cannot be achieved by other processing methods.
